Blogger's Basic Baking Workshop at Philippine Baking Institute

July 21, 2016 0 Comments
I haven't been into any baking workshops before, I just tried and experimented on my own. A few of the recipes that I've tried were from my sister who had been into baking too and had attended formal lessons and workshops on how to bake. I was inspired by her works and that's where my interest in baking started.

It was all new to me and I had to search some of the terminologies used in baking. :)

I really liked baking and wanted to learn more about it, so when the opportunity was given, I immediately grabbed it. Last May 28, 2016, I was one of the bloggers who attended the 1 Day Basic Baking Workshop at Philippine Baking Institute, Inc.

The workshop started with a lecture about baking and bread making which was presented by one of the instructors of Philippine Baking Institute, Mr. Francis Louie C. Mangubat.

He tackled about the basic baking principles, methods in bread baking, uses and limitations of formulas and recipes and bakeshop math.
After the lecture, we were assigned into 3 groups and we had an experiment in making the loaf bread. One group will have no yeast in their ingredients, the others will have no margarine and no water while the last group will have the complete ingredients.
We tried the manual process of kneading the bread dough and it was really hard! Making bread isn't that easy as what I thought it was, but it was a fun learning experience.

So, this is how our dough looked like before baking...

And this is how our loaf bread looked like after baking... See the difference? :D

After making the loaf breads, we made...

Pandesal

Sweet and tasty Spanish bread

and the fluffy, creamy and cheesy Ensaymada...

After making the breads, Mr. Steven Mathew Lim taught us how to bake brownies, butterscotch and pineapple tart.

I really enjoyed the workshop and learned a lot from the instructors. Making bread and pastry is fun especially when you're with the members of the Davao Bloggers Society. Thank you Philippine Baking Institute for this opportunity! :)

A Working Mom's Playlist

June 09, 2016 0 Comments
Just want to share my Spotify playlist here. This is the playlist that I am listening whenever I am working late. It keeps me awake and prevent me from dozing off while working online especially during the wee hours . Aside from that I also liked listening to Electronic Dance Musics (EDM) when I work out. Yup, I rarely work out though because of our busy schedule and online work, but whenever I can, I would work out. I also like walking and sometimes I bring slong my daughter who also enjoyed walking with me. Its one of our bonding moments and we get to exercise in the process..

So, here's my Working Mom Playlist / Workout Playlist. Enjoy! :)

Zip Line at Outland Adventure Davao City

May 16, 2016 0 Comments
The Xcelerator Zip Line

This was my first Zip Line experience at Outland Adventure. This is 5 years ago, yeah, I'm still single at that time. LOL. I had to make a post about this because I lost my old post when I forgot to renew my domain 5 years ago. Yeah, silly me, I got too busy and didn't spend much time checking my emails or going online.

So, I'm making another post now about my  Zip Line experience. I was really nervous at that time because I am afraid of heights. It was an amazing experience for me because I have somehow overcome my fear of heights and I also have experienced to ride in one of the longest zip lines here in Davao City. The view was breathtaking too which I only get to notice when I was in the middle of the line.

After zipping, my knees were shaking but I feel good inside. It's a good feeling knowing you just did what you thought you couldn't do. The experience was worth it and yeah, it was awesome! :)

If you are an adventurous person, try and experience their Zip Line and other services.

Outland Adventure is open on:

Wed-Sat: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sun: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

They're Closed on Monday and Tuesday.

They're located at Purok 7 Mahayahay, Diversion Road, Barangay Langub, 8000 Davao City.

You can check out the Outland Adventure Facebook page for more information.  :)

ASUS Zenfone Max

May 02, 2016 0 Comments
I really like ASUS Zenfone Max! Simply because of its battery performance... Yup! It has a 5000mAh battery that can last for days and you can also use it as a power bank in case your other gadgets needed charging.

I really don't care much of the other specifications of a cellphone, what matter most to me is its battery life... My phone sucks! I hate that its battery couldn't last a day or even half a day! That's why I always bring a power bank whenever I go out. But there are times that I forgot to charge my power bank and so my phone dies and it sucks when you have an important call or message that you had to respond to and your phone's dead.

When I first heard of ASUS Zenfone Max last February, I got excited when I read it's features online... I really wanted to have one! Hahahaha!

Here's ASUS Zenfone Max Specifications:
  • Display: 5.5", 1280 x 720 (HD) IPS display with Gorilla Glass 4
  • Operating System: Android 5.0 Lollipop with Asus ZenUI
  • Processor: Qualcomm MSM8916
  • Camera (Rear l Front): 13MP with autofocus l 5MP
  • Memory (RAM l ROM): 2GB l 16GB
  • Connectivity: WiFi 802.11n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.0
  • SIM: Dual
  • Battery: 5000mAh, lithium-ion
I like that it has a dual sim... I can use my personal sim and the other one for business in just one phone, just like the one I am using now... but it's battery sucks! Hahaha! I mentioned it again... Well, been mentioning that for quite a while now... hoping... and praying... that hubby will get tired of me talking about it and just buy me a Zenfone Max! Hahahaha! I wish!

Anyways, ASUS Philippines had 1 Million Incredible Fans so they'd like to express their thanks starting with a promo price in one of their coolest phones, the Zenfone Max!

Awww... It's price dropped from PHP 8,495 to PHP 7,995 starting today. Check out ASUS Philippines' Drop the Heat! 7 Days of Summer Zenfone Promo!

Miel's first Horse-riding Experience

April 25, 2016 0 Comments

Miel is only 4 years old and she wanted to try to ride the horse. I asked her if she's not scared or anything and she said she's not scared. I was having second thoughts if I'll let her or not... I saw some kids and kids almost her age ride the horse and they were just fine afterward, so I thought it would be okay for Miel to experience it.

This was in Eden Nature Park and Resort, Toril, Davao City...

She was behaved and relaxed the whole time, she said she was happy and I can see it because she's smiling from start to finish... :) I'm glad I let her experience this memorable moment, her first horse-riding experience was great...

Note: The fee for the Horseback riding is PHP 85.00 :)

Children's Health at Risk Due to Haze

October 26, 2015 0 Comments
Because of the Haze in Indonesia, more nearby countries in South-East Asia have been affected and our country is one of them, the Philippines. This is alarming because it's putting not just the children's health at risk but all of the people who will be exposed to the haze. Most of the ones who are suffering are the children and babies whose immune systems are still immature.

I've been seeing news about children who had been really affected by the haze, most especially the babies who had been exposed to this hazardous smoke. Some had lived while the others had suffered and died.

What causes the haze in Indonesia?
The haze is caused by farmers clearing land for plantations for the palm oil, pulp and paper industries, primarily in the Indonesian province of Kalimantan on Borneo and the island of Sumatra. [Source]
There are lots of flights that have been canceled too due to this haze, not just here in Southern Mindanao but also in countries like Singapore and Malaysia. There are also a lot of people in Indonesia who had suffered and died of acute respiratory tract infections. [Information on this website]

Now the haze already reached Davao City, our hometown. I've seen one post on Facebook by a Mom whose kids had been sick then after that, a lot of moms have commented and shared that their toddlers and kids were sick too (cough, colds, allergies, asthma, etc.), I guess it's all because of this haze from Indonesia.

Because of this we have limited our outdoor activities and refrain from going outside especially for our daughter, Miel. My daughter currently has coughs and colds too and she had allergies since she was a baby. I am worried that this haze could worsen her condition, so as much as possible we limit ourselves from going out and if we do, we let her wear a mask. We had to stick to our usual routine, home-day care-home and if possible just stay at home if there's no need to go outside. So for those parents who had kids who have a history of asthma and other types of allergies, let your kids wear masks for their own safety. Here's the Department of Health (DOH) Health Advisory during Haze:

Stay Safe everyone! I hope and pray that this Haze will end SOON!

Bio-Oil Review

September 27, 2015 0 Comments
When I was still pregnant (the year 2011) and on my 3rd trimester, I started to have stretch marks and dark marks on my belly. I don't know why or what caused it and I am not so happy about it. A few months after giving birth to my baby girl, my sister gave me this product, Bio-Oil, and said that I should try this on my stretch marks

I wasn't regularly using Bio-Oil because I got busy being a newbie mom, but whenever I get the chance,  I would diligently put some on the areas where I have a lot of stretch marks; in my belly. Anyways, months and years had passed and I forgot about using this product. But what I noticed is that my skin had lighten and my stretch marks aren't that visible in some areas of my body. I didn't use anything except  Bio-Oil. Now, I believe this brand is really effective and so I started using it again.

Aside from using Bio-oil on my stretch marks, I also use it in my face. Yes, I even use Bio-Oil before applying make-up, its a very good moisturizer and won't leave an oily residue on my face and doesn't clog my pores.

I didn't notice it for a long time but my acne scars had lightened over the years and I believe it's because of Bio-Oil since it is the only product that I've been religiously using for years.

Bio-Oil contains numerous ingredients that help the skin, become softer and smoother thereby improving the appearance of aging and wrinkled skin. With regular application, Bio-Oil helps to improve the appearance of uneven skin tone. It also prevents the formation and improves the appearance of existing stretch marks formed during pregnancy, teenage growth spurts, or periods of rapid weight gain.

Here are the Key Ingredients in Bio-Oil:

Vitamin A: Promotes the formation of new collagen and assists in skin renewal, helping to increase elasticity and improve skin’s texture and tone.

Vitamin E: Helps maintain healthy-looking skin, protecting it from the effects of free radicals which cause skin damage and premature aging. Vitamin E is also a fantastic moisturizer.

PurCellin Oil: Improves smoothness and ease of application, making Bio-Oil readily absorbed by the skin. It also acts as an emollient, leaving the skin soft, smooth, and supple.

What I liked about this product is that it absorbs quickly into my skin and it doesn't feel greasy after using it. And it smelled good too, maybe it's because of the plant extracts like the lavender oil, rosemary oil, chamomile oil and calendula oil that has been added into this product. By the way, it's hypoallergenic and ideal for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin. So far, I haven't had any problems using this product. ;)

You can buy Bio-Oil at Amazon or if you're in the Philippines, you can buy it any Watsons stores nationwide and at Lazada, click here: https://invol.co/cl141lz. :)
