A Fun and Learning Picnic Session + Useful Tips for a Healthy Toddlerhood from the Experts

November 08, 2020 0 Comments
NIDO 3+ Todo Expert TIPS (Toddler Indoor Picnic Sessions)

We had a fun and learning experience during the NIDO 3+ Todo Expert TIPS (Toddler Indoor Picnic Sessions) held last month. Thanks to NIDO, we really had fun and it was a breather for us parents since we are stuck at home for months since the quarantine started, so glad to experience this unique event and first-ever virtual picnic with other moms and kids from all over the country. It was an afternoon of exciting games, fun activities like AR (augmented reality), and useful toddlerhood tips from nutrition experts.

NIDO 3+ Todo Expert TIPS (Toddler Indoor Picnic Sessions)

Check out our Unboxing video of the Picnic Basket

Raising a child is never easy and NIDO® 3+ is one with parents in prioritizing the health and well-being of their kids especially in this new reality where immunity is a prime concern. As a parent, it is helpful to listen to experts who can guide you in protecting and supporting your 3+ toddlers during these unprecedented times. During the event, nutrition experts shared advice on how to provide the right nutrition and health protection to help your 3+ toddlers become a #TodoExplorer.

NIDO 3+ Marian and Zia Dantes

Here are some Todo Expert Tips from the event, to guide parents who seek to give the best support for their 3+ toddlers:

Get to know the ins and outs of 3+ toddlerhood years

Challenging yet fulfilling, the journey of toddlerhood may be overwhelming for some parents, that is why NIDO® 3+ gathers expert tips to help parents know more about what goes through a child’s life and know how best to support it.

3+ toddlerhood is when kids begin to explore, start self-discovery, and a very critical period in their growth and development. During the Todo Expert T.I.P.S event, parents learn from the invited experts what key developments do a 3+ toddler goes through during this stage. From physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development, it is during this time that the toddlers start walking and running, interacting with family and kids, exploring the environment, and learning during active play. To ensure healthy growth and development, parents must support their +3 toddlers’ brain, body, and behavior development by providing them with proper nutrition.

Mind the nutritional gaps

Based on a global project collaboration between Nestle Research Center and the Philippines’ Food and Nutrition Research Institute, there is an inadequate intake of important vitamins and minerals in all age groups of Filipino children. These nutrients are important to support physical and cognitive growth and development as well as normal immune function during toddlerhood.

As evidenced in scientific studies and dietary surveys, this inadequacy is likely a result of the typical Filipino diet which is heavy on carbohydrates and refined sugars, and not enough vegetables, fruits, and age-appropriate milk.

Experts constantly remind parents that they play a key role in shaping their +3 toddlers’ diet, and how growing up milk plays a valuable role in meeting the nutritional needs.

As the true expert in 3+ toddlerhood, NIDO® 3+, the #1 Growing Up Milk, developed the NUTRITODS™ program which is a scientific program specially designed by experts to address the growing up needs of Filipino toddlers through the nutrient it contains. Through the program, the new NIDO® 3+ is developed to be rich in age-appropriate nutrients, such as LACTOBACILLUS PROTECTUS®, 50% More protection nutrients like Vitamins A, C, E, DHA, PREBIO3®, Iron, Zinc, and other essential vitamins & minerals, and has no table sugar added. This is to ensure that our 3+ toddlers are TODO protected and can be #TodoExplorers as they continue to grow and develop.

Be mindful of your toddler’s daily sugar intake

Choosing the right growing up milk is not just about the nutrients, as parents also have to check the label for its sugar content. The typical Filipino diet, which includes many milk products and sweetened beverages, is filled with refined sugars that can lead to problems such as dental issues as well as increased risk of obesity and diabetes.

In fact, the World Health Organization recommends that daily sugar intake should not be more than 7 teaspoons a day. Ensuring that every 3+ toddler gets enough healthy energy to be a #TodoExplorer, NIDO® 3+ uses lactose, a naturally occurring type of sugar, and has no hidden sucrose and may help in the digestion of calcium needed for bone development.

Parents always want the best for their kids, thankfully NIDO® 3+ finds ways to help parents in providing the best nutrition and support for their kids especially during this uncertain time.

Mom's Day Out

August 18, 2017 0 Comments
Being a wife and a mom juggling between different tasks at home and other activities outside can be physically and emotionally exhausting, most especially if you don't have a housemaid.

When I became a Mom, I rarely had a "Me Time" and sometimes it can't be considered a "Me Time" because I'm still with my daughter whenever I go out. Having a good massage is what every mother would want to have after all the tedious tasks we've been doing at home or at work. My most favorite "Me Time" is having a massage at my favorite spa, which is just  block away from where we live before in Obrero. I always avail their "Pinoy Hilot" at Elysia Wellness Spa. ;)

I was delighted when I learned that Sun Life Philippines will be having a Mom's Day Out event. I got excited because who doesn't want to have a Mom Day's Out? ;) It turned out to be a fun day for us Moms because we get to have a relaxing massage courtesy of Elysia Wellness Spa and most importantly, we get to learn more about parenting and balanced motherhood from Michele Alignay, a Family Life Specialist, Registered Psychologist and Registered Guidance Counselor.

Finding balance in raising our kids while keeping your sanity and keeping your cool is quite difficult and challenging. "A well-balanced mom has more to give her family", I totally agree with this... But it is easier said than done. So, we have to work on our "wants", "should" and "capacities", instead of having a rule that covers all situations all the time, choose to pick within the situation and you'll never be out of balance.

Thanks to our speaker, Ms. Michele Alignay for sharing her tips and experiences that taught us how and why we need to balance, re-balance and recharge our life.

Sun Life Mindanao Cluster Head Mylene Almonte, talks about planning for our children's education for their brighter future through "MyFuture Fund". Everyone of us were surprised to see how much the tuition fee will cost by the time our children would enter college and we're talking about millions here. Wow... My daughter is still in kindergarten now and I can't imagine if our savings and earnings will be enough when that time comes. This is where MyFuture Fund can help us, it would be a great tool in helping us achieve our goal in preparing a college fund for our children.

To achieve our children's dreams, we need to plan ahead, save and invest for the college education of our children. Here's Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo's video on Sun Life's MyFuture Fund

For more information on MyFuture Fund, visit www.sunlife.com.ph or call 849-9888. You can also visit their Facebook Page at Sunlife Financial Philippines and Instagram account at @sunlifeph

Here's an inspiring short video by Sun Life Philippines for all the moms out there who are wondering if they're doing the right thing for their kids...

Thank you, Sun Life Philippines for letting us have a stress-free day with other Moms. I enjoyed and learn a lot on motherhood, parenting, self-care and money management... :)

Blogger's Basic Baking Workshop at Philippine Baking Institute

July 21, 2016 0 Comments
I haven't been into any baking workshops before, I just tried and experimented on my own. A few of the recipes that I've tried were from my sister who had been into baking too and had attended formal lessons and workshops on how to bake. I was inspired by her works and that's where my interest in baking started.

It was all new to me and I had to search some of the terminologies used in baking. :)

I really liked baking and wanted to learn more about it, so when the opportunity was given, I immediately grabbed it. Last May 28, 2016, I was one of the bloggers who attended the 1 Day Basic Baking Workshop at Philippine Baking Institute, Inc.

The workshop started with a lecture about baking and bread making which was presented by one of the instructors of Philippine Baking Institute, Mr. Francis Louie C. Mangubat.

He tackled about the basic baking principles, methods in bread baking, uses and limitations of formulas and recipes and bakeshop math.
After the lecture, we were assigned into 3 groups and we had an experiment in making the loaf bread. One group will have no yeast in their ingredients, the others will have no margarine and no water while the last group will have the complete ingredients.
We tried the manual process of kneading the bread dough and it was really hard! Making bread isn't that easy as what I thought it was, but it was a fun learning experience.

So, this is how our dough looked like before baking...

And this is how our loaf bread looked like after baking... See the difference? :D

After making the loaf breads, we made...

Pandesal

Sweet and tasty Spanish bread

and the fluffy, creamy and cheesy Ensaymada...

After making the breads, Mr. Steven Mathew Lim taught us how to bake brownies, butterscotch and pineapple tart.

I really enjoyed the workshop and learned a lot from the instructors. Making bread and pastry is fun especially when you're with the members of the Davao Bloggers Society. Thank you Philippine Baking Institute for this opportunity! :)

Zip Line at Outland Adventure Davao City

May 16, 2016 0 Comments
The Xcelerator Zip Line

This was my first Zip Line experience at Outland Adventure. This is 5 years ago, yeah, I'm still single at that time. LOL. I had to make a post about this because I lost my old post when I forgot to renew my domain 5 years ago. Yeah, silly me, I got too busy and didn't spend much time checking my emails or going online.

So, I'm making another post now about my  Zip Line experience. I was really nervous at that time because I am afraid of heights. It was an amazing experience for me because I have somehow overcome my fear of heights and I also have experienced to ride in one of the longest zip lines here in Davao City. The view was breathtaking too which I only get to notice when I was in the middle of the line.

After zipping, my knees were shaking but I feel good inside. It's a good feeling knowing you just did what you thought you couldn't do. The experience was worth it and yeah, it was awesome! :)

If you are an adventurous person, try and experience their Zip Line and other services.

Outland Adventure is open on:

Wed-Sat: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sun: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

They're Closed on Monday and Tuesday.

They're located at Purok 7 Mahayahay, Diversion Road, Barangay Langub, 8000 Davao City.

You can check out the Outland Adventure Facebook page for more information.  :)
