Toddler Activity: Cutting

November 23, 2017 0 Comments
One of the toddler activity that you can try for your Preschoolers is Cutting Scissors. Scissors comes in variety of sizes, so choosing the right scissors is important for your child to practice cutting properly. It may be scary at first especially if it's their first time to hold a scissor, but there are safety scissors available in the market such as the Maped Kidicut Safety Scissors which ideal for young kids learning to use scissors.

One of the important activities or lesson that we can teach our Preschoolers is Cutting. Cutting with scissors require the skill of hand separation, which is the ability to use the thumb, index, and middle fingers separately from the pinkie and ring fingers. With this activity, their little hands will develop fine motor skills and learn the proper way to cut paper. Cutting scissors also prepares our Preschoolers for a much more complicated in the future such as using  different types of scissors, cutting their nails using a nail cutter/nail clipper and even using chopsticks.

For starters, you can draw a straight line on a blank paper and let your child practice cutting it. When he/she masters it, he/she can continue cutting more complicated and detailed lines.
