Self-Care Checklist

March 03, 2021 0 Comments
Self-care is important most especially during these trying times where most of us feel stressed, anxious, sad, irritable, drained physically and/or mentally, etc.

Taking a break from watching the headlines about the pandemic can help lessen your negative thoughts and feelings, that's what I do, and it also helps to have a "Me Time" too. Taking a few minutes off from your usual routine can have a huge impact on your overall well-being.

For moms like me who had been stuck at home since last year and have bouts of panic attacks, it really helps to have time to take care of yourself, relax and recharge. So, what do I do? I watch movies or tv series, listen to music, gardening, exercise, write or blog, play online games or board games with my daughter, or go out and ride a scooter with her.

Love yourself - self-care

Self-care comes in a variety of forms, it looks different from person to person with different preferences and needs. So, find a time and do whatever makes you feel better and don't think of it as a selfish act. You can't pour from an empty cup, love yourself first.

Self Care Checklist, Tips, and Ideas
Treat yourself like someone you love...  It's okay to take a break, a moment for yourself... It's okay to be selfish if it means rediscovering your own power and happiness...

Canva Tutorial How to Create a Free Customized Instagram Bio-Link Landing Page by Mama Miah

I had fun making my own Instagram Bio Link Landing Page using Canva, there are lots of templates to choose from and you can even make one from scratch just like I did.

Here are the steps to create your Instagram Bio Link Landing Page:

1. Search for "Bio Link Website" on Canva, then select a template. But if you choose to make your own from scratch, then choose the "Create a Blank Bio Link Website".

2. Start designing and customize your landing page, you can add images, borders, frames, icons/logo of your social profiles which you can find in the Elements section, and a lot more! It all depends on your style and design.

3. Add the hyperlinks to your social profiles like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Blog or Website, etc., so you can send your followers to your respective social profiles and blog/website. Select the icon or element that you want to add a hyperlink and click the hyperlink sign which you can see on the upper right corner (check out the image below for reference) and then add your link in the space provided and click Apply.

4. If you're done designing your Instagram Bio Link Landing Page, you can now Publish it as a Website and choose "Scrolling".

5. And you're done! The next step is to copy your link, it is too long and you might want to customized and shorten it using a link shortener like bit.ly. After you have shortened your link, you can now copy and paste it to your Instagram profile.

But with just a few taps on the Grab app, we can have our ride in just a few minutes and arrive safely at our destination. Aside from transportation, Grab's other services like food delivery, shopping, and parcel delivery provide a hassle-free experience for all of us who rely so much on online transactions.

Here's a treat to all Davaoeños from the leading super app in Southeast Asia, Grab recently partnered with Phoenix Petroleum to give P200 FREE fuel vouchers to new Grab users in Davao City when they create their accounts for the first time. This partnership aims to encourage Davao drivers to adopt cashless payments through GrabPay when they gas up with the homegrown oil company.

Ronald Roda, Head of Country Operations for Grab Philippines, said “This is a strategic partnership between Grab and Phoenix Petroleum to be able to provide more convenience to nearly two million Davaoenos. We hope that the app and its various services such as transportation, food delivery, shopping, and parcel delivery, can create meaningful value in the lives of the residents and be a catalyst for further growth of this progressive city. We also want to encourage more people to adopt cashless payments through our in-app wallet GrabPay, in support of the government’s goal of creating a digital economy.”

The company hopes that the campaign will help further gain the trust and loyalty of Davaoenos, especially since Phoenix originated in Davao, and maintains its headquarters in the city, said Phoenix Petroleum Chief Operating Officer Henry Albert Fadullon.

“Together with Grab, we want to strengthen our relationship with Davaoenos as we offer more value and convenience. Aside from the fuel voucher exclusive to new Grab app users, we also offer the ‘Pinoy Tsuper Card’ (PTC)-Grab, a loyalty rewards card made available especially for Grab drivers, “ said Fadullon. “No matter who they are, whether they are public utility drivers or private ones, we want them to know that they can enjoy perks and discounts when they gas up with Phoenix and use their rewards card for their transaction in any of our 11 stations in the city,” said Fadullon.

HOW TO GET THE FREE VOUCHERS?

Ways To Prepare Your Home For Natural Disasters

February 15, 2021 0 Comments
Natural disasters are inevitable especially with the increasing global warming surface temperatures that are happening for the past years. Truly climate change has brought so many calamities and disasters not just in the Philippines but worldwide. It can hit us anytime without warning and with these occurrences, it is best to protect you and your family and start to Prepare Your Home For Natural Disasters.

Ways To Prepare Your Home For Natural Disasters

Here are some of the Ways To Prepare Your Home For Natural Disasters:

Prepare a Go Bag for each member of your family at home with first-aid supplies and their medicines if they have maintenance to take. Here are the essentials items to put in your Go-Bag:
  • Important documents and cash sealed inside a plastic bag.
  • Water and Food that is not perishable and have long expiry dates
  • Whistles (one for each family member)
  • Flashlight with extra batteries and matches/lighter
  • Swiss knife
  • Powerbank/s
  • Toiletry and Hygiene supplies
  • Raincoat, Jacket, and/or Blanket
  • Extra clothes and underwears
  • Resealable plastic bags
  • Face masks and face shield
  • Paper and pen
  • Extra keys to your home
Remember to put your Go Bags in a designated place and make sure that your family members know where they are located so you can just easily grab them in case of emergency.

Two of the most common natural disasters that our country is experiencing over the years are Earthquakes and Floods.

Earthquakes are unpredictable and can do damage to your homes, so if you live in a place where there are frequent earthquakes it's best to keep your appliances and other breakable items safe. Consider securing your tall bookshelves and cabinets and bolt them to the wall, this could prevent the furniture from falling down and keep you and your family safe. In an event of an earthquake, keep calm and be sure your family knows what to do to keep them safe by doing the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" practice. If it is safe, evacuate if necessary to further prevent any injuries and contact your emergency hotline for further assistance and help if you needed one.

After an earthquake, make sure to check your walls for cracks, other signs of structural damage, and electrical wiring issues that might endanger your family, and have them all repaired immediately.

Our country (Philippines) is visited by Typhoons every year by an average of 20. As we all know typhoons cause floods which may damage your homes and other properties. If you're living in a flood-prone area, you and your family should always be prepared, stay alert, and be informed by listening to the radio or watching TV news for flood warnings and updates. Turn off your gas tank, disconnect your electrical appliances and move it to a higher place to prevent any electrical problems and keep them safe should a flood enters your house. Also, keep your valuables in a safe place especially your important documents.

Be ready to evacuate at any moment and have your Go Bags and other emergency items accessible for everyone in your household to easily grab and go.

No one can predict some of the Natural Disasters from happening but you can prepare for them before it happens. By strengthening your homes and consider getting insurance, it may help protect yourself, your family, and your home from any danger and harm.

DIY Haircut at Home - Tipid Hacks for Everyone!

February 10, 2021 0 Comments

Out of the blue, I decided to cut my hair. My hair has grown long already and the last time I cut it was last summer, so I grab a scissor and started cutting my hair in front of the mirror in the bathroom (lol).

Here is the output of my DIY Haircut. I also decided to dress up so when my daughter saw me with my new hairdo and outgoing clothes, she asked me: "Saan ka punta, Ma?" She's used to seeing me na nakapang-bahay lang since ECQ kaya nagulat at napatanong talaga siya.

I've been cutting my own hair ever since I was single and I still do it now that I am already a mother. I also cut my daughter's hair and my hubby's too with the help of a razor that we borrowed from my sister-in-law. By doing this, we can save money (tipid talaga) and since we are still in quarantine, it's best to just stay at home and do it yourself (DIY).

It was hard the first time I did this, looking at the mirror while cutting your hair isn't that easy, especially when you can't see the back part of your hair. But, there's a trick to this DIY Haircut at Home and I'll share it with you

  1. The first thing you'll do is brush your hair and bring it all to the front then tie it with any hair ties or scrunchies you have.
  2. Then, tie your hair again to the part where you want it to be cut, it's up to you on how short do you want it to be.
  3. Then, you can start cutting your hair to that part and you're done! Easy, right?

As for me, I cut it really short this time it's shoulder-length. I also like my hair to have that layered look, so what I do to get that look is I cut my hair vertically, just a few inches from the tip of my hair and that's it. My layered haircut is done! By the way, I just use a regular scissor. :)

And one last thing, be confident and trust yourself that you can do it! Good luck! ;)

I hope this is DIY Haircut Tips and Hacks is helpful to you. I don't have a photo or video of myself doing this layered haircut though, but maybe next time I'll record it so it will be much easier to follow the steps. :)

Teaching My Daughter How to Cook

January 21, 2021 0 Comments

My daughter is interested in cooking, she's so curious and wants to get involved whenever we prepare and cook our food. She joined the Junior Chef's Club when she was in Grade 1 and they made a lot of no-bake and no-cook foods, most of which are desserts. Before, she would just watch us prepare our meal, and then later on she would volunteer to help prepare the ingredients. Since she's really interested to learn, we taught her how to prepare and cook simple foods like scrambled eggs and pancakes.

For now, she only knows how to fry but there's this one-time where she got interested in how to cook the rice, so I taught her how to wash the rice first before cooking it. She just did it once and never did it again (LOL). I think she's more interested in making desserts because she enjoyed doing it.

I'm happy that she wants to learn how to cook, not all kids are interested in cooking. When I was her age, I am not interested in cooking that's why most of the food that I know is fried except for my favorite foods: adobo and pasta. Hahaha!

Cooking is a great activity for kids and one of the important life skills that they can learn. We just have to be patient in teaching them how to do it and supervise them during the cooking process for their safety, most especially in operating the stove and handling the knives. :)
